Two New Apartment Buildings Proposed For West Loop Site Near Union Park
The West Loop building boom is showing no signs of slowing down as two more rental developments were just recently unveiled for the neighborhood’s west side.
According to reports, developer Marquette Companies just presented a plan that would bring a combined 500 new apartment residences across two sites near Union Park.
The first, which would be located at 1400 W. Randolph, could rise as high as 21 stores and include 252 apartments, 67 parking spaces, and retail and restaurant space on the ground level.
The second building, which would be located at 1440 W. Randolph and directly across from Union Park, could rise as high as 11 stories and include 243 units and 85 parking spaces.
As noted by Curbed, renderings for 1400 W. Randolph were not received well by 27th Ward Ald. Walter Burnett Jr., citing that facing the park would expose future residents to noise from concerts and picnics held at the park annually, opening the door for future complaints.
